Centering Abundance

Who We Are

Sa·ma·ra noun- a special type of dry fruit with a flat, papery wing that helps the wind carry the seed far away. Also called helicopters, whirlybirds, keys, spinning jennys

Potawatomi scientist, writer, and visionary Robin Wall Kimmerer once diagnosed the human species as suffering from “‘species loneliness’,- a deep, unnamed sadness caused by human estrangement from the rest of creation and the loss of relationship with the living world.” Today, we keenly feel this pervasive and growing alienation from our home, Mother Earth.

We at Samara believe there is another way. Together we can re-write this story. Samara invites you to reimagine your place in the cosmos. Join us for intentional retreats designed to realign our relationship to the Earth, to deepen our sense of presence and peace, and to re-member ourselves into the whole. Like the maple tree we send our samara seeds spinning wide. Seeds of peace, seeds of kinship, seeds of hope.

"The universe is a communion of subjects, not a collection of objects."

- Thomas Berry

Vision

We return to the sacred rhythms of the Earth to become present and transform. Embodying deep knowing, we are whole.

Mission

Together we create spaces that:

  • Center abundance

  • Regard the body as a sacred vessel of transformation

  • Return us to a life in greater harmony with the natural world

  • Open a path to re-membering our place in the continuum of deep time

  • Celebrate the beauty of Kentucky

Retreat Offerings

A Samara Retreat welcomes you home to your rightful place in the natural world. Together we will fully enter the present season through a variety of embodied practices designed to draw you closer to the land and closer to the whispers of your soul. Meditation to listen to ourselves, sit spots to listen to our more-than-human neighbors, creative rituals to explore how nature inspires art, breathwork to know our body as a vessel toward deeper awakening of consciousness, and seasonal nourishing food to connect us to unique moments in time as we rotate around the Sun once again.
