Rebecca Metcalf (She/Her)

Rebecca grew up on a tobacco farm in Lexington, Kentucky, shucking corn and snapping beans from her grandparent’s gardens. She roamed the fields and woods with her siblings, learning to be entertained outdoors with little more than a good imagination. Life took her from farmland in Lexington, to rural Western KY, and then eventually to Louisville which she now calls home with her husband Bob. Rebecca’s career has centered around holding space for others as they embark on transformation. She got her degree from the University of Louisville in Women’s and Gender Studies, which launched her into work as a counselor and community educator. That phase sparked a love for teaching, which eventually led her to get her Master’s degree in Bilingual Education in Washington, D.C. Before heading to D.C. though, Rebecca took some time to travel through Central and South America with her husband to learn invaluable lessons from other cultures on how to live, eat, and connect to nature. From there, they took a year to learn to farm in Pennsylvania wanting more knowledge of food systems and seasonal growing patterns. Moving to D.C. afterward began Rebecca’s teaching journey, but she and Bob felt called back to Louisville to slow down, grow their own garden and be closer to family. Rebecca currently teaches 5th grade in Louisville. She is excited to embark on this new journey of starting a retreat center and continue her life long work of helping folks find personal transformation. Currently, you might find her crafting or cooking in her kitchen, doing breath work, meditation, reading a good book, or helping her husband in the garden.
